ABOUT JULIE

Julie never gets tired of photographing nature, whether in still life studies using large film cameras in the studio, or adventuring outside with her digital camera.  As a Fine Art photographer, her primary studies are in black and white and created into Platinum Prints, a printing process from the 19th Century.  She creates contemporary compositions with a vintage flair.  Using this beautiful printing technique makes an image look more alive and 3 dimensional because of the abundance of tones and fine detail, unlike any other printing process.  Her color photographs reveal a sensitivity to our surroundings, focusing on subjects that many times go unnoticed or unappreciated.  Her unique perspective can create an emotional connection to natures intriguing beauty.

Julie has been a photographer for over 25 years.  After graduating from college she worked as a photojournalist shooting for several newspapers.  Then while raising her girls Julie focused on portrait photography, photographing many families on the beaches of San Clemente, California.  During that time, she continued her education in learning alternative photographic processes.  After taking a workshop, Julie fell in love with the vintage Platinum Printing process and continues to create them today in her fine art photography studies.

She has exhibited in many solo and group shows and has had her work published in magazines and news media.  Her photography is included in corporate installations and many private collections nationally and internationally.  She enjoys teaching the Platinum Printing process to students at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo where she is an alumn.  She also teaches private workshops.  Julie resides in the beautiful Central Coast California.
